Medo LA28 Air Pump
Medo Air Pump's linear-motor-driven free piston system has an internal piston inside the cylinder which is driven by an electro-magnet and spring system controlled by the alternating input current cycle.
We at Dankoi cannot stress enough the importance of adequate air supply to both your pond and filtration systems.
Low oxygen levels can have a serious detrimental effect on the health of your fish; very low levels can even cause death of both the fish and nitrifying bacteria.
Linear Pump Operating Principle:
The activated electro-magnet attracts the piston against the return spring, while air is taken into the cylinder through the opened inlet valve. When the electro-magnet is deactivated, the return spring pushes the piston back, and the compressed air is brought out of the cylinder through the now open outlet valve.
The system can function as either an air compressor or as a vacuum pump.
The piston, an example shown to the left, forms a single combined structure of two usually different devices; the motor and pump.
The Medo air pump's unique and simple structure has no complicated transmission mechanism such as a crankshaft, connecting rods, ball bearings, etc., which are widely used in between the motor and compressor in conventional pumps.

Important Note on Installation:
As with all Air Pumps, they should be installed above the water level. This prevents back siphoning which can result in damage to the pump. Where this is not possible, a non-return valve should be installed to protect the pump. The use of pressure release valves and or pressure gauges is highly recommended
